Green Centre Summer Fair

You are invited to attend The Green Centre for our Annual Summer Fair on Sunday 31st July 2011 between 11am and 3pm at 39 Manor Hill, Brighton. We look forward to welcoming you with complementary refreshments and hope you'll enjoy doing the the following:

  • Taking part in our Drumming Workshops (12 - 12.30pm & 12.45 - 1.15pm)
  • Listening to our Story Teller (2pm)
  • Perusing our 2nd Hand Market
  • Reducing landfill with our Massive 10p Bric-a-Brac Sale
  • Stocking up on reading material at our Bumper Book Sale
  • Protecting the environment with our Green-Friendly Goodies
  • Reducing food waste at our Composting Q&A - Please bring a recipe
  • Learning how to protect wildlife and crops at our Save the Bees Q&A  
  • Saying "Cheese" for our Colombian Goldmine Photo Petition
  • Signing up for the Cravenvale Children's Garden Community Project
  • 'Greening-Up' at our Reduce, Re-use, Recycle Q&A
  • Getting lucky at our Grand Raffle - 1st prize £50

PLEASE BRING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WITH YOU FOR RECYCLING TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE D.E.C. (DISASTERS AND EMERGENCIES COMMITTEE) APPEAL FOR THE AFRICAN DROUGHT: all textiles including clothes, linen, sheets, towels (including items ripped/stained), shoes, belts, bags, soft toys, books, aluminimium foil, aluminium cans, scrap metal including aluminium, brass, copper lead, electrical cable, printer cartridges, mobile phones.  All your donations will be recycled immediately and the funds raised will go to the D.E.C.

Volunteer Saturday at The Green Centre

Come along to our next volunteer Saturday!

Any  help will be appreciated as we continue to tackle our bottle top mountain. Last volunteer Saturday we managed 29 sacks. Hoping to better that this time.

Saturday 23rd 10.30 am till 4.30pm. Lunch provided if full day - refreshments for half day. Give us a shout if you are up for it!

Reduce / Reuse / Recycle at the Green Centre

Drop in the  Green Centre between 10.30am and 4.30pm and bring your unwanted items which we will re-use or recycle. Stay for a chat and a cuppa - we sell a wide range of Fairtrade teas (£1) and coffees (£1)

We accept: Aluminum foil and small pieces of scrap metal (copper, brass, lead), bedding, books, bric-a-brac, clothes (including those ripped or stained), elastic bands (Red Royal Mail), foreign and old currency, household items, milk bottle tops (plastic), used postage stamps, tetra paks, textiles (bedding, clothes, linen, towels, etc), toys and unwanted gifts. We sell: Bric-a-brac, clothes and accessories, toys, etc.

We are a Community Interest Company (not-for-profit). All proceeds go towards the cost of running the centre (rent, utilities, volunteer costs, community project costs, etc). We support the following charities through our recycling schemes;

Brighton Peace & Environment Centre, Coffee KIds, Disasters and Emergency Committee (DEC), Extratime, Lupus UK, Pens for Kids, Omushana, RNIB, Survival International, Vision Aid Overseas and Workaid.

This is a regular weekly event - next three dates are: 02/09/2014, 09/09/2014, 16/09/2014
