Local Food. Good for the economy! Good for the environment! Good for our health! As we face Climate Change, diminishing energy resources and soaring global population we can no longer be complacent about our ability to feed ourselves. However we are capable of producing our own food as was demonstrated by the Sussex Women's Land Army in the 2nd World War.

Their success has inspired us to recreate the Brighton Mile of Potatoes as shown on the Land Army map of 1945.

The Green Centre and the Craven Vale Children's Allotment will soon begin recreating the Brighton Mile of Potatoes.

We will be growing our own, and if you're a potato grower we would love to hear from you. All you have to do is plant your spuds and when the leaves start to appear let us know. For every potato plant you grow we will add one foot to the total on our "Mile of Potatoes" Map. We need 5,280 plants to create a mile.
