Blister packs

Yes, blister packs can be recycled.

RECYCLED
Where?

  • There is a blister pack recycling scheme at Super Drug on Western Road. No other Superdrug in Brighton and Hove offer this scheme.
  • There is a blister pack recycling scheme run by Boots. The branches offering this in Brighton and Hove are:
    • Boots, 59-61 George St, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 3YD
    • Boots, 67-68 Boundary Rd, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 5TD

Please pay special attention to the instructions below. Demand for this scheme is VERY HIGH and is at risk of being cancelled due to excessive costs.

How?
There are 2 different types of blister pack;

  • A blister pack which is made from 100% aluminium foil. This means that the layer where the medication sits is made from aluminium foil AND the layer which seals the medication is made from aluminium foil. If this is the case you can include these blister packs in the Green Centre aluminium foil recycling scheme. This will lut less pressure on the Boots & Superdrug schemes. See Aluminium Foil for more details.

  • A blister pack which is made from aluminium foil and plastic. This means that the layer where the medication sits is made from plastic AND the layer which seals the medication is made from aluminium foil. These are the blister packs which must be included in the Boots and Supderdrug scheme. Blister packs must be empty and both schemes will accept just a few at a time. No more than half a carrier bag full.
