Glass Jars

Yes glass jars can be reused and recycled.

REUSE

  • You can reuse your glass jars for different products in refill shops across Brighton & Hove.
  • Use your jars for keeping things tidy in the house, including nails, screws and stationary, etc.

RECYCLED
Where?

  • Glass jars can be included in your kerbside or communal bin recycling BUT in a separate bin. After washing your jars just pop the metal lid back. These can be included because the companies who actually recycle yoru glass jars are able to separate the metal from the glass.
  • You can take them to the Brighton Household Waste & Recycling site on Wilson Avenue or the Hove Household Waste & Recycling site on the Old Shoreham Road. See here for exact locations and opening times. For more details contact City Clean on 01273 292929.

How?

  • Please make sure your glass jars are clean.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Glass  are jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled endlessly without any loss in purity or quality.
  • Over a ton of natural resources are saved for every ton of glass recycled.
  • Learn more about glass recycling through British Glass and there's a really good infographic from the Glass Packaging Institute in America.
