Typewriters

Yes typewriters can be re-used and recycled. 

REUSE
Where?
If you have a typewriter which is in good working order that you no longer use;

  • You can donate it to Workaid a charity which tackles poverty in developing countries by supplying disadvantaged people with the tools they need to earn a living. If you have tools to donate, please phone 01494 775220 or email admin@workaid.org and you will be put in touch with your nearest area organiser.

How?
Workaid accept;

  • Manual typewriters only
  • They also accept ribbons and manuals.

Workaid accept other items including a wide range of tools, gardening equipment, sewing equipment, knitting equipment, etc. See the FULL LIST of accepted items.


RECYCLE
Where?
If your typewriter is broken and can not be repaired it can be recycled in the following way;

  • Please take them to the Brighton Household Waste & Recycling site on Wilson Avenue or the Hove Household Waste & Recycling site on the Old Shoreham Road. See here for exact locations and opening times.For more details contact City Clean on 01273 292929.

How?
Place your typerwriter in the appropriate container depending on whether it is electric or manual; 

  • Electric typerwriter to be placed in the electric recycling container
  • Manual typewriter to be placed in the metal recycling container
